Register for the new NISTR Training Sessions

Online training sessions for the new NISTR solution are now available to book. These sessions are suitable for new and existing supply teachers and all schools; schools are required to use the NISTR solution for engaging supply teachers. 

The new NISTR Solution will Go Live for Teachers on the 15th August, the Go Live date for Schools is 22nd August.  The NISTR project team strongly recommend that all supply teachers and schools attend a suitable allocated session in August to ensure they are trained in the use of the new solution and are fully prepared for the start of the academic year.  

When making your booking, it is important you select the correct type of session (schools or supply teachers), as the training will be tailored to your specific requirements of the solution.

What will be covered in the Supply Teacher Training sessions?

The aim of the training session will be to provide new and existing supply teachers with an understanding of the new NISTR solution. The session will provide a full end-to-end walkthrough of the solution features, processes and where you will be able to find additional support. The training session will take place via MS Teams Webinar.

  • Login in / reset your password 
  • Update and review your NISTR profile 
  • Register for the 1st time on NISTR (11 steps) 
  • Select and change your availability on NISTR 
  • Manage your discoverability (search radius & school selection) 
  • Reply to the short notice supply requests 
  • Manage your bookings 
  • Manage your dashboard 
  • Manage your notifications 
  • Find additional support

What will be covered in the School User Training sessions?

The aim of the online training session will be to provide a detailed walkthrough of the process for booking supply teachers on the new NISTR solution and will be suitable for those school users who are currently responsible for doing this. 
The session will provide a full end-to-end walkthrough of the solution features, processes and where you will be able to get additional support. The training session will take place via MS Teams Webinar. 

The areas that will be covered during the training include how to: 
 

  • Login in / reset your password 
  • Create/manage a Short Notice Supply 
  • Update the School Calendar 
  • Search for supply teachers 
  • Manage bookings (create, amend, cancel) 
  • Sign off a booking 
  • Manage school users 
  • Manage notifications 
  • Edit school details 
  • Manage the school dashboard 
  • Find additional support

Training FAQs

Q: How do I sign up to training sessions?  
A: Please use the links shared in the above section or below. The links will take you to a dedicated booking page where you will be able to select the most suitable date and time for your training.

Once you have selected your booking, you will be provided with a confirmation email and a link to join the MS Teams webinar. You will also receive a reminder email the day before the training session with the required links and instructions.  
Training Sessions timings and links will also be communicated via the following channels: 
 

  • Direct email (for those already registered with NISTR)  
  • Newly qualified Teachers: via university communications 
  • Direct email to School Principals  

 
Q: I do not have MS Teams? How do I attend the training? 
A: All school users will be able to avail of the current MS Teams application via their schools managed device. For those that do not have the MS Teams application, you will be able to access the session online via your browser (when you click on the link it will give you an option to do this) or download the MS Teams application and access the session as a guest. Further details on how to access the link will be provided in the confirmation email once you have booked on to a session.    

Q: How long will the training sessions be? Will they be within School hours?  
A: The training sessions for Supply Teachers will last no longer than 1.5 hours each, and 2 hours for school users. Teachers and school users will be required to book on to one training session only. All training will take place prior to the academic year starting. Training sessions will be available in the morning and afternoon across several dates (see above).  

Q: I am a Supply Teacher and I am unable to attend the teacher training dates, should I attend the School training dates instead? 
A: It is recommended that you should only attend training for your type of user group. The training will be tailored to the specific processes and features for each user group (Teachers or School users). Please see FAQ response below if you are unable to attend the training dates.  

Q: What if I cannot attend any of the training dates?  
A: If you are unable to attend the training dates proposed (See above), please refer to the self help support materials (that will be shared prior to the solution go live in August) to provide you with an understanding of how the new solution works. Training sessions will be recorded and made available for viewing at your convenience.  The solution is designed to be intuitive, proactive and very user friendly, reducing the need for heavy investment in training. Based on end user feedback, we may look to hold additional training sessions or specific ‘Deep Dive’ sessions.
